You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and locating mechanical deficiencies on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment. This is a highly customer-facing role, and you will be the primary support contact for customers. You’ll work out of a company-provided field service truck as you travel to various customer locations.
 
Responsibilities: Provide high quality and timely repair service on equipment, engines, and powertrains on customer site. Perform welding and brazing on equipment. Fabricate and modify parts, equipment, and miscellaneous structures and attachments. Interpret and analyze hydraulic and electric schematics and wiring diagrams. Interpret technical instructions and safety/service manuals. Serve customers’ needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner. Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
 
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Field service technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through an accredited technical school or equipment dealership manufacturer training preferred. 5+ years of previous hands-on relevant experience with CAT equipment or similar industrial equipment and/or industrial engines. 5+ years of experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting diesel-powered construction equipment or truck engines. Must do company-reimbursed overnight travel occasionally (up to 25%). Must be able to work independently in remote locations. Must own a basic set of industrial tools, including industrial hand tools, air tools, torque wrenches, and multimeters (Insert tool program). Possess and maintain a current, valid state drivers’ license and CDL/DOT medical card based on assigned vehicle weight.

Experience with Microsoft suite products, generally. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Knowledge, Skills, & abilities: Strong experience in delivering high quality customer service. Responsible for washing trucks daily and may assist with picking up solid waste and places it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specified routes often done manually or by pushing toter to tipper. Lifts and carries trash bags, bulk items and containers to the truck for disposal.  Climbs onto and off of the rear truck step to load refuse, waste and carts. Operates packing mechanism to compact waste into the truck. Provides a safe and distinguishably different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals. Ensures garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly; pick up may require using back door. Answers questions for residents and directs them to contact Customer Service or appropriate government office for additional information. Must comply with all ANSI (American National Standards Institute), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and company safety polices including Waste Pro Absolute Guidelines. Assists Driver in safely backing up the truck by directing the Driver from the ground. Cleans behind the compactor blade with shovel and hoe when directed. Sprays and cleans the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed. Reports any safety or customer service related issues to driver and supervisor, immediately. Performs a variety of manual duties in the clean-up of scattered refuse; Cleans up the area around accidental waste spills and ensures customers containers are replaced properly. May be required to work during emergency situations. Assists other routes as needed to complete daily work. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
